Hunter Hire Group Pty Ltd (ABN 14 677 748 391) ("Hunter Hire Group", "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, hold, disclose and protect your personal information, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using our website, requesting a quote, or hiring goods from us, you agree to the handling of your personal information as described in this policy.

1. What personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number and postal address.

  • Enquiry and hire details such as the delivery address, the goods you need, hire dates and any access or property information you provide.

  • Account and verification information where you set up a business, government, insurance or Defence account, including business name, ABN, position or posting details, and identification or authorisation documents needed to set up the hire.

  • Payment information such as billing details and records of payments. Card and bank details are handled by our third party payment providers and are not stored by us.

  • Communications including emails, messages, call notes and form submissions.

  • Website and technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited, collected automatically through cookies and analytics (see section 7).

We only collect sensitive information where it is reasonably necessary for our functions and, where required, with your consent.

2. How we collect personal information

We collect personal information:

  • Directly from you, when you complete a form on our website, email or call us, request a quote, or enter into a hire agreement;

  • In the course of providing delivery, setup, collection and ongoing hire services; and

  • From third parties where relevant, such as an employer, relocation provider, government agency or insurer who arranges a hire on your behalf, or where you have authorised them to deal with us.

3. Why we collect, hold and use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide quotes;

  • Arrange and manage delivery, setup, collection and the ongoing hire of goods;

  • Set up and administer accounts, including verifying eligibility and authority;

  • Issue invoices and process payments, and manage bonds and deposits;

  • Communicate with you about your hire, including changes, extensions and end of term;

  • Maintain our records, manage our business and meet our legal obligations; and

  • Improve our website and services.

4. Disclosure of personal information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers and contractors who help us deliver our services, such as delivery and logistics providers, warehousing, and IT, hosting and software providers;

  • Payment providers who process payments on our behalf;

  • An employer, agency, insurer or relocation provider where they have arranged or are funding the hire, or where you have authorised this;

  • Professional advisers such as accountants, auditors and lawyers; and

  • Government, regulatory or law enforcement bodies where required or authorised by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers (for example, our website host and certain software and cloud providers) may store or process data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. Where we disclose information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with this policy and the APPs.

6. Storage and security

We hold personal information in electronic and, where relevant, physical form. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including access controls and the use of reputable service providers. We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes set out in this policy or as required by law, after which we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

7. Cookies and website analytics

Our website is hosted on Squarespace and uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may not function properly as a result.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time. In limited circumstances we may decline a request, in which case we will explain why.
